Three cocky men, one cocky conversation

Ana: Clado? Look, modern-age Tarzans!
Clado: Tarzan would eat that creature up!
Ana: How gastronomic!
Clado: Hey, seriously, what about the target audience for this one? The guys seem to be talking to each other and having fun in this Tarzan-like avatar. Chuckles
Ana: Gaaaaays!!!
Clado: Laughs out loud. Hmmmm, possible.
Few seconds later...
Clado: I suppose typically women buy inners for men, no?
Ana: Hmmm...
...
Clado: Btw, these guys have become stars... Six-packs, beefy arms, shapely legs! Look so cockeasy!
Ana: What! Cockeasy?!?! No Nooooo!.... Cockstars?!
Clado: Laughs out loud
Ana: Mmmmm... Cockkkkk... roaches sounds better!

Are you bored with Management Education?

Came across this ad in today's TOI. Found it compelling enough to share here and talk about it. My perspective of course.

The headline ARE YOU BORED WITH MANAGEMENT EDUCATION is just so apt. A lot of academicians engaged with management institutes here in India might just have been bored with the way things are done. Forget academicians, ask the students studying in these institutes. Ask them if given a chance to change their decisions by going back in the past, what would they do and why?

Reading through the copy might make one expect different things to happen at this institute. Mind you, we aren't talking about the right and the wrong. For the rightness of educational settings has been debated and questioned all the across the world.

Most interesting thing about this ad is what it expects the candidates to do. EMAIL THEIR RESUME WITH A WRITE UP ON "MY VISION OF MANAGEMENT EDUCATION IN THE FUTURE".

The ad seems to be walking the talk.

The only disappointing aspect is QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND REMUNERATION AS PER AICTE NORMS. I fear that one thing might just cut out a lot of interesting things that the institute promises through this ad.

Teaser Ad for an Ad

Just happened to check Mr. Bachchan's tweets. Look at the one highlighted in pink. Click to see the image in big.

It's almost an ad for an ad. How does Tanishq benefit? Is the ad a reflection of Tanishq or just the acting prowess of Mr. Bachchan or both? In case it's both, who gets how much mindshare? What is the rub-off on the brand when juxtaposed with an attention-grabbing persona?

Schools do bull-shit! And how...

The metaphor is one of a robot. What do robots do? Obey. Follow instructions.

What do the robotic arms hold? Violin! And brushes and palette! Creative robots! Find me a bigger irony, please!

How many arms? In total, 8! And 6, robotic! Yes of course, what are the kids supposed to do... Everything under the sun practically! Call it 'Balanced Schooling'. How about 'Donkeying'? I respect the donkeys though. They just do one thing, even if it is carrying a lot of load. So let me call this 'Variety-loaded Donkeying'!  :)

Aamir, please! Taare Zameen Par! 3 Idiots............

*I just don't wanna debase donkeys. I respect life. I respect all that donkeys do in the service of humans.

And an atrociously irrelevant Google Ad

And this is the screen shot right after I published the Dental Jewelry post a few minutes back. Check the google ad box on the right side in the image. Yet another atrocious juxtaposition.

It will take a lot of time before systems and algos can be developed to match and respond to man's sense of humor :). Yes of course, this juxtaposition matches the juxtaposition in the previous post. In that sense, the quality of atrociousness does get matched ;).

Pardon the width of the image intruding the right-hand side bar.

Dental Jewelry

Encountered this while coming back from my morning run. Atrociously juxtaposed messages. But...

Dental surgeon,
Oorja di collection!

It rhymes! :)

"Identify the Institute" Contest

Identify the institute as per the ad given below:

The Times of India, 29th Nov 2010

Answer: Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Ahmedabad

Congratulations if you got it right!!! :)

The institute doesn't understand the same thing that entrepreneurs usually don't. Building a brand! No wonder they've simply missed putting the institute's name in the ad, leave aside highlighting it. Ridiculous!

Where time-frames to learn and execute are getting shorter, the institute has converted the flagship program into a 2-year one! Entrepreneurs need to be fast, right? Respond quickly to challenges, right?

Der aaye par durust nahi aaye :)

Some 7 and a half years back, during our internship, we (Vivek and I) had recommended a logo change to the decisions makers at Career Launcher. We somehow knew it wasn't right back then but didn't have any science, logic or data. We just knew and said it as it is.

Career Launcher has changed the logo. Wonder what stopped them from seeing it back then even if we didn't have any support for our suggestions.

The thing is they still haven't got it right. But reasons for later. It is more than just an aesthetic issue.

What's wrong with the copy?

Wanted
Radiologist
for a multi-specialty hospital
at Bhilwara, Rajasthan
-
Compensation: Best in the industry
-
The applicant should be
good at communication -
polite and well-spoken -
and possess a spirit to serve.

What's wrong with the copy?

I suggested this copy when we were discussing releasing an ad for a vacancy. The immediate response was doctors won't respond. What's the need to write polite and well-spoken...

It's rather strange actually. All these things are assumed to be present in a 'doctor'. The facts, as I've observed so far, do not corroborate. Doctors don't have natural ability to communicate, forget being polite and well-spoken. Doctors didn't choose the profession to serve the people. They chose to become doctors to make some money, like it happens in most popular career options.

But then in a market like this, we haven't done enough to choose. We haven't done enough to attract the ones who want to serve.

Ad for an Ad

In my own capacity, I am promoting this ad released in The Economic Times. Kindle's here, in India and at a very reasonable price.

Kindle Ad, Page 4, The Economic Times, New Delhi edition, 23rd Nov 2010

Go go go. If there's one gadget that I would recommend it's this. It's a great way to get gadget-crazy, gaming-crazy children started into reading. Parents who are finding it tough to handle their kids' fetishes for gadgets have a chance to develop a desirable one now.

Couple of ads on Page No. 3 of Main Paper, Dainik Bhaskar, 5th October 2010

Woke up after a good 9 hrs' sleep. Haven't had that kind of good fortune for quite some time. Feeling fresh. Here's something from yesterday.

Mast Kalandar Ad
I shared the Japani Tel & Afghani Nuskha the other day. Here's Mast Kalandar ;)

Italian Wall Putty Ad
What if I replaced the name Italian Wall Putty by Mast Kalandar Tel? :)

Afghani Nuskha & Japani Tel

Today's Rajasthan Patrika, last page, premium spots :). Mumbai's local trains also carry similar things...
